A different twist on our monthly review as the team discuss 2019

Name three words that sum up 2019 for you: "Bigger. Better. Farther!"

Tell us about your favourite project to work on in 2019.

I’ll go with Xceed Fitness for a few reasons.

  1. Xceed Fitness is a local personal training business run by James Price. James runs PT sessions as well as many classes for his dedicated clients and offers good health and nutritional advice.
  2. Xceed Fitness is a small business facing similar challenges as Twilo, so it was easy for me to understand the obstacles and offer a number of solutions which will streamline parts of their business.
  3. The order portal Twilo created for Xceed is feature-packed and probably better than any system used by more established and much larger businesses in the same industry.
  4. It had been a while since I got to design and build a website so it made a nice change.

The website is geared towards attracting more clients for James. It includes strong call to action along with easy to digest information on the classes including and membership benefits.

Twilo built a client system which allows him to manage his class schedule. Clients can now book individual classes online and manager their membership level. As a result, Xceed Fitness now take class payments online which saves them several hours each week and cuts down on the number of IOU’s.

Clients can also cancel their class attendance which will refund them and send out an email to any other clients on the class waiting list.

James and his clients can also share recipes with each other through a dedicated section which allows the user to add recipes along with macros for each meal / ingredient.

The key benefits to James’ business is the time saved from managing classes on paper and collection money from clients. I really enjoy saving a business time because we are all busy, and James can now spend that spare time growing his business rather than chasing people.

What was the most fun thing you did this year?

Lianne would kill me if I said anything other than getting married. The day was perfect. Seeing all our friends and family on a jam-packed dance floor dancing to indie classics is the happiest memory of my life. The day, the venue, the food, the entertainment and the company were all top class!

What achievement are you most proud of this year?

I’m really proud of the team this year. We came off the back of a difficult year and since then everyone pulled together to create a positive, hard-working atmosphere. Adnan joined us in February 2019 and we have a new starter joining us in January 2020, so we should all be proud that we are moving forward together and I hope to be adding another face or two beyond January.

What is your favourite new thing that you have tried this year?

I left Europe for the first time in my life as I went to Dubai & Mauritius for my honeymoon. Two very different places but equally as stunning and I’ve now got the long-haul bug!

Song of 2019?

Foals – The Runner. Having seen this band twice in 2019 it couldn’t be any other, and this track is one of their best!

Best movie of the year?

I’ve been known to fall asleep in the cinema (many times) so I can’t recall most of the films I’ve seen in 2019. One that does stick out is Le Mans 66. Christian Bale and Matt Damon re-create the story of Ford VS Ferrari.

Every day I work on this project it makes me laugh, the cards are hilarious, so it has to be LoveLayla Cards.

What achievement are you most proud of this year?

Learning to play my first Pink Floyd song on guitar.

What is your favourite new thing that you have tried this year?

Persian saffron brittle toffee.

Song of 2019?

Love Layla Designs is my favourite project this year. All the other accounts have been primarily on Google Ads. What made Love Layla different to others is the fact I had a big daily budget on Facebook with multiple products to push. Also the client’s products were fun to sell, as long as you’re not easily offended.

What was the most fun thing you did this year?

I attended my first ever Arab wedding. It’s like no other wedding I have ever attended. People from every culture & faith attended. It was basically a 5-hour dance. It was a great experience, definitely the most fun thing I did this year.

What achievement are you most proud of this year?

For me it has to be a Google Ads campaign for S2S. The main reasons this was my favourite project is simply because I exceeded clients expectations. I was hitting clients targets, however I tried different marketing strategies and from a target of £80-100 CPA, I brought it all the way down under £20. Also the fact I consistently improved every month on this account, made it my most proud account of this year.

What is your favourite new thing that you have tried this year?

2 words – Coke Float

Matt mentioned this to me earlier in the year. To those who do not know, it’s Coca-Cola & a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. It’s simply delicious and I was at one stage enjoying this desert for 3 weeks straight.

Song of 2019?

Heuss L’Enfoiré – Aristocrate

Best movie of the year?

Toy Story 4. I have a love/hate feeling for this movie. I liked the fact you see the journey Woody went through, from being selfish in the first instalment (1996) to being selfless. However, I think the 3rd movie had a better ending.
